Palm Springs

Originally home to the Cahuilla Indians, their presence is still felt throughout Palm Springs, especially when visiting downtown’s Spa Resort Casino or hiking the canyons they once called home.

As Hollywood became a town of prosperity, Palm Springs grew into a destination with a sterling reputation for first-class hotels, modern architecture, and year-round recreation.

Residents and visitors enjoy a great variety of events. These include Palm Springs International Film Festival in January, Modernism week in February, and Village Fest every Thursday night along Palm Canyon Drive. No visit is complete without riding the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, where one can revel in the refreshing beauty of the San Jacinto Mountains. For those who enjoy shopping, retailers of every stripe populate the uptown Design District on North Palm Canyon and along the downtown main strip. Meanwhile, the restaurant scene steadily grows with popular establishments that include Trio, LuLu California Bistro, Cheeky’s and Zini Cafe Med. Long-standing establishments include La Vallauris, LG’s Steakhouse, and Las Casuelas Terraza.

As one of the original, and certainly one of the most famous resort destinations in the United States, the celebrity atmosphere of Palm Springs is hard to match.
